P55 build, or x58 Build

Now before you automatically say x58, keep in mind that Im on a budget. I decided to upgrade from my good ole EVGA 780i with Q9400 and 8GB ram, to either this P55 build, or x58 build. Heres their specs.

x58 Build:

EVGA E758-A1 Mobo

Intel i7 920

OCZ Gold 6GB kit.

Price: $713, $663 after rebates.

P55 Build:

*Mobo EVGA P55

Intel i7 860

Corsair Dominator 4GB kit

*Price: $537.97, $502.97 after rebate

Now as much as Id like to get the 1366 i7, its just really expensive. So my 2 questions are, 1: Will I see a HUGE performance difference from P55 to x58? and 2: If i decide to run SLI, will the P55's ( x16,x8 )Â setup make a huge difference in performance graphically?

Thanks

Assrock

what the fuck are you doing, nigger?

Lol the only reason I looked at that one is cuz it had the highest rating. I think i'll probably swap that for an EVGA P55

Your math is very wrong here? If you are buying for Newegg
$200 evga p55+ $280 i7860+ 4gb domi's $150 =/= $497

im also guessing you were going with the asrock board but you edited the OP lol,
ASrock is made by asus but its ugly so I tend to stay away from them.

I am really happy with my evga P55 still waiting on a cpu cooler so I have no comment on OC ability.

I was debating x58 and p55 and x58 is still more expensive and the performance gain is minimal so i opted with P55 and very happy with it.

Oh shit ya I forgot to change the price lol cuz I did switch the ASRock thanks for pointing that out. Ya I think I'll go with the P55 then, thanks for the info.

Do you have a Microcenter near you? Even if its a 50 mile drive its worth it lol

I paid $200 for my i7 860
$200 for my evga p55 with a $35 MIR
and I bought my G.skill ripjaws at newegg (they only sell corsair, ocz and crucial at MC)

So I saved quite a bit of money.

if you plan to SLi or corssfire I would go x58 and it can do x16/x16 P55 only does x8/x8

1366 is really for servers, but modified for desktop use.

To be honest you wont see much of a difference between a good P55/i7 and an X58/i7 setup.

However, if you run a lot of memory intensive programs then obviously go with the X58 for the extra bandwith

Oh and I am junking my core i3 530 for an i5 750

Not too bad of a cpu, but it just would not cut it for gaming. It wont split its 16 lanes into 2 for SLI, something I found out after I bought it

Sold it for what I paid for it so i am not bothered

Hell ya, lucky enough, I live 20 minutes from the only one in VA lol. I'll deff go check out the pricing there. I can usually match or better prices there, opposed to newegg.

Asrock makes ugly boards, but they have the most features for the money and they're awesome. The i7 930 should be out tomorrow, I think.
Oh, and the evga x58 board = no features at all.

Yup, so I went with the Evga P55 FTW, Intel i7 860, 4GB Corsair XMS DDR3 1600, and went ahead and am getting a Antec 900. Ive gotta Coolermaster Stacker, but its just TOO BIG and I wanna window! lol

you can get windows for the stacker cheap, the stacker kicks ass
