Overclocking Voltage

When overclocking CPUs, how to you know what voltage to set your CPU to? If anyone knows some very awesome and detailed OC guides, please link them so I can read.

The voltages and methods vary from cpu to revision. Google your specific needs and you'll find a general guide for your cpu

I was looking for gerenal tips for it.

Simply knowing what the base voltage a specific cpu uses and it's TJ Max temp is all you really need. Fix the voltage and increment your OC until more voltage is needed. Stop bumping the voltage when temps get too high.

You didn't mention which cpu, so here is a post for intel

I was thinking about getting and OCing a Fx-6300. I am wondering about stuff like increments, and how much should I increase voltage by when OCing? Should I start at 1.5 and go down or should I start at base and go up?

It's best practice to start with the base voltage. If you've researched overclocking a specific cpu and have a good idea what the target area will be(and have adequate cooling), you can start with a known safe voltage. I usually increment the clock by 100mhz and the voltage by +0.02

Thank you. ^-^ I did reseached info on overclocking and what I got was 4.8 to 5Ghz around 1.35V. I just want to know how to do it for future reference. I do love how OC newbie friendly the new Nvidia cards are. If OC higher then the base voltage is set it, it will increase it automaticly to if the power demand.
