Overclocking my netbook makes it run cooler?

I have been in the bios of my netbook and I found an overclock setting. It was at 24%. Which surprised me because I didn’t think netbooks would have an overclock bios setting let alone one which is quite old.

After my windows xp had booted i tried pressing FN F10 which has a battery on it. The power light turned from blue to orange.

I then loaded up hw monitor and cpu-z and noticed that it overclocked from 1.6GHz to 2GHz, the ram turned from 266MHz to 330MHz (DDR2) the graphics are not showing any information so i cannot see if the graphics has overclocked.

After testing my netbook on minecraft which actually runs on it, it has a 10 fps boost. I have tried other games too. Roblox seems to have a 10 fps boost. Team fortress 2 works but i can see that i dont have enough vram for it. The screen turns blue and rainbow textures everywhere.

On hw monitor I have noticed that when i am not overclocking my temperature seems to be 5 - 10 degrees hotter than when i overclock it. - It instantly drops when overclocked.

The netbook is an MSI U90.

what most likely happened is that when you overclocked, the fans run at a faster speed to compensate for the overclock. be careful though that you dont push your powerbrick too hard.

I think it's time to get a cheap APU desktop PC man

I already have my 3 year old gaming rig next to me :)
