Overclocking help!

asdasd

i have just finised my first build.

i7 2700k, asus p8z68-v/gen3, 16gb corrsair xms3, 560ti main gpu, 430 physx unit, corrsiar h80, OCZ vertex 4 256gb, 750gb seagate barracuda all housed in an NZXT phantom. pretty good for a first build at 14 years old, don't you think?

anyway, thats not the point. the point is that i cant overclock my 2700k for some reason. i have gone into the bios and into the advanced mode many times, each to no avail. i have foun the OC tuner and that was useless, then i tried enabling and disabling some things, all to no avail. i then left it for a while, and then the z77 stinger OC guide came out, and i thought that (even though they are completely different bios) i would see if there was anything simmilar in my bios, i then discovered that there was! i set the multiplyer up by 1 so as not to cause problems. i returned to my bios to see that nothing had changed, i thought this may have just been something to do with te bios, and went into windows. i checked CPU-Z and it was still at 3.5ghz.

i now dont know what to do. my uncle (who is experienced in such things) said that 1. he had tried OC tuner himself and it was useless for him too. 2. that i should use an OC program in windows. and 3. that i could abandon the idea of a program OC, as they tend to not be as stable as a bios OC, and find something or other in my bios. i couldn't find whatever it was in my bios, and i just want to OC!

please please please help!

thanks in advance, tom

just look up a guide on oc on the 2700k and see what they are doing the setting manually will be most stable and you can get the most out of your hardware the best and only reccomended way to overclock processors is in the bios you don't need any other software other then cpu-z

is it something simple like forgeting to save the settings after exiting the bios? not to insult your intelligence

i would say it would be easier to get OC help on the OC section of the form, since people go on that part to help people with overclocking

nope, i just pressed f10, and when that didnt work, i manually saved and exited

yea, i didnt realise that was there until after posting this
