Overclocking 6850K with XMP Profile pushed Blck to 125MHz?

Hi all,

I’d recommend that you first see my latest post here with regards to progress I made last night, where I upgraded my UEFI and got the XMP profile working on my Corsair Dominator Plat DDR4 3000MT/s RAM.

Couple specs -

  • Intel 6850K
  • Asus Sabertooth TUF X99
  • Corsair Dominator Plats, 2x 16GB Kits CMD32GX4M4C3000C15

My custom UEFI settings:

  • CPU VCore set to 1.25vdc
  • DDR RAM voltage set to 1.35vdc (each chan)

What I noticed though, was that enabling XMP would push the Blck to 125Mhz * 32 CPU ratio (=4Ghz clock).

However, if I force Bclk to 100 Mhz x 40, the XMP profile no longer works, and I boot into 2133MHz RAM. Checkout the FSB:RAM setting of 1:18 in CPUZ at least when I was able to get the XMP to work (with Bclk at 125MHz), I wonder if this is a factor?

I’ve read that pushing the CPU Strap higher than 100MHz isn’t recommended - thoughts?

I would just brutally hit ram timing things one by one to max till its booting 3000

and when it works, just toggle again off/on XMP which resets those settings and try if that last one is the culprit

Then its pretty easy to bump that specific setting till it boots

Basically attempt the XMP, with XMP off, but with Bclk at 100MHz right? So in this case, 15-17-17-35 with XMP off but DDR speed set to 3000MT/s.
