So I have a asrock 970 extreme 3 and i overclocked the processor using only the manual voltage and frequency setting and so far it is binned only at 4.0ghz and won't clock down when the load on it isn't very intensive is there any way to fix this or is this how overclcking by just upping the multiplyer is?
It's gonna stay at a constant 4ghz, unless you go into the bios and re-enable the features that throttle teh chip, such as "cool 'n' quiet."
You mean your cpu is allways running at 4ghz? or your cpu is at 100% usage all the time?
if you whant it to throttle down you have to enable 'cool and quiet' in the bios but i am not shure its supported on older chips like the phenom with overclocking give it a try.
I ment its always running at 4.0 Ghz and ill check to see if there is an option for that.
Ok so i went and checked for that setting an apparently its enabled :/
Yes i dident think you was able to use it when the cpu is overclocked with the phenom.
But i did find this (you need a extra program) http://mytechencounters.wordpress.com/2010/03/15/overclock-your-phenom-cpu-and-save-power-simultaneously/
sweet the program worked like a charm thanks for the post !
Enable Application Power Management in the BIOS then go into windows and change your power options to balanced, it should clock back down. You don't need some special program in windows to do it.
