Overclock help!

My msi z97 pc mate won't let me OC 4.4ghz and up with my pentium g3528 help ;(((

I'm not an overclocker but you should really provide more information before you expect people to help you.

Yeah some information would be helpful Such as:

Exact motherboard model:

PSU and wattage:

Cooling:

First off I would recommend that you set the Vcore voltage to the default 1.25V manually, don't let the Vcore be set to auto because it will overclock it but it may force more voltage through the CPU than necessary.

Try 3.6GHz (x36 multiplier) as a starting point, run a bench mark and monitor temps to a point that you think is fine then increase either 100MHz or 200MHz at a time (i.e. increase multiplier by 1  or 2).

Once you get to a point that the OS Blue screens or seems unstable, increase the voltage either by 0.005V or 0.01V and see if it is more stable then.

Um ... 4.4 is quite good for stock V ...

Depends on voltage , cooling , etc ...

I would say past 4.6 is amazing , so 4.4 is ok .

Sorry guys but my specs are :

MSI Z97 Pc Mate

MSI r9 270x twin frzr

Intel Pentium G3528

EVGA 650 Gold

Corsair H60

HYPER X FURY BEAST 8GB

1TB WD BLUE

my mobo doesnt have a manual option for Vcore voltage

not every chip is going to be a good overclocker, there is a reason it's called the silicon lottery xD I also don't think I've ever seen anyone try to overclock with a chip like that before so kudos to you. Your mobo should have an option somewhere for vcore voltage although it may be named something else or be hidden in a submenu somewhere. I have an MSI mobo currently and its on the main oc page at the bottom but there are some PWM management submenus that let you change vdroop and things so they may have moved it.

mmm...i3 overclocking. Those things have unlocked multplier now?

No i have a pentium g3528 not i3

Have you tried a newer bios version to see if they unlocked voltage for that cpu? Might be worth sending MSi an E-mail.

Ya if I remember some of the new MSi boards only have a voltage off set. This is fine as long as you know what the vcore is being pushed to. You can go a bit higher on the vcore with the G3258 than you can with a quad core. Its a really cool running chip. I got it to 4.7 on a Asus Z97-A at around 1.38vcore. It not recommended to go past 1.3 but it was still only running 60c. I I felt it could be pushed a bit more.
