OS Suggestions!

What do you reccomend? im wanting ot find a good alternitve to windows and if not. I can get osX for free. Having apple tech support as a freind has its props :P

If you're a Windows user, give Linux Mint a try. Usually ready to go out of a fresh install, stable, snappy, and just amazing. I use it as a daily driver on my laptop, and netbook and have had no issues. If you want something different Ubuntu has Unity. It has some (UI) similarities with Mac OS, such as the dock, close/maximize buttons on left, general status on the top right, but it's truly a unique experience, bringing their own sets of features such as the HUD (searches nested menus), the Dash (searches all of the computer), their own little software center, cloud storage, and more.

Can i make the maximize, ect. buttons on the right for unity?

Yes, but I haven't used Ubuntu in a while, so I can't remember how exactly. As I've stated, Mint 14 have been my daily drivers.

i haven't been able to

there's also KDE Workstation, it goes on top of multiple versions of linux, i use it on top of ubuntu, theres also a mint version and others, kindof windows-ish

when i was looking  at some photo's  and there was one that looked like windows with a diffrent thing where the windows button was.

If you really want something that looks exactly like windows, then just use windows. I've had machines with each of the three major OSs installed on them (Windows 7, Mac OS X, Ubuntu) and I have to admit that I still tend to use Mac OS X the most often just because it's really easy and it tends to handle having multiple applications open more readily. After that comes Windows then Ubuntu. I find this is the case primarily because I'm not trained in how to use Linux command prompt/terminal. If you know how to use this feature then it is incredibly powerful. Otherwise it is still very useful, but I find the lack of overall support a little disheartening. If you are okay with looking around for alternatives for everything then you'll be fine. And Ubuntu/Mint look fantastic.

I ahve no clue how to code at all :P
