OS Recovery USB (I need some help)

Hello everyone, I'm building a new PC and I've already picked parts. Last year I had bought a laptop that already came with windows 8 installed on it but they gave me a recovery usb of windows 8 and I was wondering if with that USB I can install windows on my brand new PC I'm building or if the recovery USB is just to reset my laptops windows or something. If I am able to install windows from that usb, in my new PC I could get slightly better parts by not spending money on buying windows 8 disk. Thanks!

Most like a recovery disk only for that laptop.
It would be very rare that they give you a proper USB installation.

nope id just reformat that usb and reinstall the windows OS properly using rufus. Make sure to write down your licence key.

You can download the windows 8 iso from the Microsoft website and use the install key that came with the laptop. Then use rufus to make a bootable usb.

The USB that came with the laptop probably has the drivers for all the laptop hardware on it as well as some junkware that you wont use. You may be able to get windows running them remove all the drivers and crap that came with the laptop and install the new hardware drivers.

With a mobo swap windows 8 will require you to re-authenticate the os though.
