Origin

So what is up with all you guys bashing on origin. Truth be told i find it more reliable and it has a return program unlike steam, so why hate it?

1. EA

2. It's resulted in a lot of EA games not appearing on steam at all, which requires the use of both to be able to play all your games. Which is really annoying.

DRM mostly. Other than that I personally don't like most of the games on Origin.

Same with UPlay from Ubisoft.

(I didn't know Steam had reliability issues?)

I don't like Origin because its EA and they are don't care about the consumer.

And from what I understand EA created Origin because Steam did not allow the kind of DRM they wanted to implement (ie always on DRM), so in my eyes Origin is equivalent to GFWL.

Also how is steam unreliable (other than the whole offline mode thing)?

Origin has worked better than Steam for me, but I can't say I have much love for either. Since I only run then when I'm about to play a related game, they both work well enough presently.

Steam to my exprience in recent years:

Crashes much more oftenly than Origin.

More often unable to connect for no particular reason.

Wakes up sleeping harddrives for no reason, to the point of making me hesitate to add a second mechanical drive to my current main system. Edit: I used to have four...

Origin mostly stays out of the way, but sometimes show stupid pop-up ads for other games they want me to buy.

Edit: GOG is better than both. It's mostly a convenient installer, other than that it stays the hell away. ;-)

It going down quite frequently

Doesn't happen to me very often,  I must be lucky.

When things are on sale they are still expensive and its uneeded we have steam and it doesnt have much depths and no one uses it but I do like their live libary view resizing and how it shows the game box cover art.

This is cause Steam has a entry in there "terms of service" that says you (the manufacturer/publisher) can't have your own digital store/download service.

Origin is generally amazing for download speeds. I was getting 60+ Megabytes (yes) per second when downloading the titanfall beta.

The worst program ever is Uplay, That is a piece of turd in a puddle of wee.

Origin returns an incorrect speed when downloading I've realized, it reports speeds that are simply not attainable on my net.

It's not just me either, my girlfriends installation as well as a few of my friends installations do the same, it compensates by reporting higher speeds, in my case it was 2x higher than possible.

That doesn't make any sense, or you couldn't get Far Cry 3 on Steam because of uplay.

Hmmm, that is true. Maybe it's just an excuse from ea so the costumers blame valve for the lack of ea games on steam. Needs more research.

The said thing is, is that Valve cares less, if you look they have let The War Z on and a metric crap ton of other shit stains. But Origin on the other hand sure EA has fucked us a handful of times but they get fixed at some point unlike 10% of the games on steam.

And for the unreliable part, steam has crashed windows 7 times just trying to download LA Noire.

As far as I'm aware, there are no games on origin that haven't been published by EA.

Yes and to EA were all exploitable sacks of money, they don't care about any of their customers. And Gabe even wants greenlight (which is the cause of all these bad games) to go away. I say wait and see what happens.

Also, according to wikipedia, Steam carries over 3,000 titles since January. Whereas origin has 185 (my own number by going to pc downloads --> base games; I do not know whether the number for steam includes DLC).

you'd think that steam would have a lot more crappy games if they had a similar percentage of crappy games.

I can get upto 74mb so it would work on my network. The 10GB file also downloaded in like 5 min or so

Funny, I also hit 60 Mb/s when I downloaded Elder Scrolls Online Beta, on a 100Mb/s plan, other than that Steam or gog games download at a steady 10mb/s.

No origin for me, several reasons were stated by others. Bought Dead Space 3, but played a torrent copy so I don't have to deal with origin.
