Origin of Computer Graphics

Computer Graphics, as we know it today is so advanced and used so much in everyday life, be it Games, Movies, your Operating System's Windowing system and what not!

This is my attempt to provide an insight about the roots of Computer Graphics. I was stunned when i first saw the video(link posted). Ivan Sutherland was one of the major pioneers of Computer Graphics. To see Computer Graphics develop from something that looks like some lines displayed on a CRO like device, to have photorealistic images running realtime(i mean games) on your smart phone in just 50 years is truly remarkable!

Since there is a lot of discussion about games and GPUs on Tek Syndicate, i thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss/read about.

Of course this is a huge topic. In case you're interested, you can read up on it at:

things like this is always amazing, i remember seeing an old ibm hard drive that could store something like 250MB and it was the size of a car and just compare it to 2012 and you can get a micro SD card the size of your nail that has 64GB

Things like these are truly interesting. With so many people pushing the boundaries of technology, an individual can barely keep track of it.

I'm glad more people don't take things like this for granted and see the bigger picture, and (want to) know where it all came from. Personally, I'm a 90's kid, so I haven't really witnessed the birth of it all, that's why I like reading about these developments.

As to quote Arthur C. Clarke's third law: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

Yes, and the funnny thing is, these guys never come into the limelight(i don't think they actually care about it). But its always some business guy who sells computers who becomes famous. I feel these guys are the true pioneers of Science and Technology.
