Options greyed out in bios because I forgot the supervisor password. Acer travel ate b115-m

So I am trying to install Linux and I need to be able to manipulate boot order but after me messing around I accidentally set password on boot, from the old supervisor password I knew doesn’t work, now the options are greyed out since I am not a supervisor… How can I fix this?

Pretty sure you don't if it's anything like a thinkpad that requires like a serial port, and soldering, I have the same issue, though I'm pretty sure the GPU is also dead on that thinkpad as the video will cut out after a few seconds

Have you tried to reset it with the jumper of the board/button? If that doesen't work the only thing you can do, I think, is flash the BIOS back (the same version or a new one). Another option might be connect directly to the BIOS with a ROM/EEPROM programming circuit, delete the BIOS and put a new one back in.

Don't worry I fixed it, I opened the laptop up to see if there was a jumper but it didn't exist but after taking the SSD out all the cables (and cmos battery) when I put it back to gether it seemed to have reset into uefi not legacy as it was before, since that happened I was actually able to change all the settings I wanted so yeah...

The battery is always the solution :D .

If only my thinkpad was more unsecured
