Planning out a new gaming build. Here is a list of what I am thinking so far;

Any idea's on different motherboard, memory? Not sure whether to go with one 980 STRIX with an SLI upgrade in the future or the SLI 970 to start with maybe a third down the line(not preferred)
Mainly play simulators(DCS/ARMA), FPS(Insurgency/Verdun), RTS(Wargame/Total War) and would like a rig that will handle Star Citizen well. No price in mind really just performance/$ spent.
Any opinions welcome.
In its current state your build with a gtx 980 would be the best option. An
850w psu should be more than enough. Even with SLI 980 because maxwell uses low tdp. sli 970 uses 300w tdp so you could use a 750w psu in your current build.
If you plan on overclocking because I see a K processor, I'd recommend a different CPU cooler like a Noctua NH-D14, Phanteks PH-TC14PE, or a liquid cooling solution like a h100i gtx. There are other good "quiet" cases too like nzxt H440 or the very nice fractal design r5.
I'd go with a Haswell (non E) build and two 980s if I were you. You'd get better gaming performance.
