Opinions on pc build for Skyrim & Witcher & lots of mods

Ok so I have been a console gamer for over about 15 years now, got a pc last year for about £75 (the ones you see in schools or banks)
When I got it I had hoped that I could switch parts out of it and build a gaming pc, using an old one but this was not the case since these models cannot be altered.

I realised that I needed to make a full build so I took a look at the highest games specs I wanted to run (witcher 3 in this case) and looked up the parts to run that on recommended.

this is my first time building a pc, I used to take apart a rubbish pc about 10 years ago which was also not a gaming rig and somehow never killed system despite not knowing what I was doing. ( had to change the optical drives since they both were unable to one task but the other could do it)

I live in the uk and use British £ and favour amazon for my retailer for the build I went pretty big I think but I want it to last and perform well for a good long time

CPU: AMD FX-8350

CPU Cooler: Cooler maser nepton 240m

Motherboard: MSI Gaming ATX AM3+

Memory/ram: Kingston hyperx fury 8gb 2x4gb

storage: 1 tb hdd

Video card: aseus geoforce gtx 970 4gb Strix

Case: NZXT Phantom 630 (black)

Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-14 DVD/CD Writer

OS: windows 10 or which ever I am using windows 10 now and would like to keep it

Peripherals: Cooler Master CM Storm Devastator Gaming Bundle Wired Gaming Keyboard w/Optical Mouse

I don't think i need a monitor since my tv has done well connecting to this pc and my friends laptop no problem.

And there it is if the link does not work, I know this can be a pricy build but I do want it last and perform well if not better than my xbox.

Any ideas and feed back are welcome I don't want to get all this then learn it wont work well with other parts or something

thanks for looking at this build

Nothing really wrong with that list but you could stretch the performance a bit whilst being on budget.
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Yd3hpg - i5, 8gb 390, ssd, 8gb ram, hdd, matx mb & case, gold psu, mechanical kb, corsair mouse, windows 8.1 (all that amazon had a price for ~ just to the update to 10).

Would definitely go for the 390 over the 970, especially if modding (for the extra VRAM). The sapphire nitro card's a good'un. Presumably you're wanting to overclock, having a 8350 and a 240mm AIO, so I've tried to get a 4690K, a Z97 board and a respectable cooler in this one (212 EVO) while keeping the mechanical keyboard and nice mouse:

£915 but you could cut down on peripherals a bit/go with an alternate OS/drop the cooler and get one later (a 212 EVO's £25, you could get that money together easy).

Also, why's everyone getting optical drives lately? You'll probably use it like once a year. You can just image the windows install disk onto a USB stick using a machine that already has an optical drive... or just rip the optical drive out of an older machine temporarily (invite your friend over to build it with you and ask him/her to bring one if you don't have access to one!).

As for retailers, CCL and amazon are decent, scan's good if you keep an eye on delivery charges (they'll say "oh this case is £30" then when you go to checkout the delivery's around a fiver or more).

So i did a couple of tweaks to topic starters original build.
In which i think would make it allot better more decent setup for his needs.

i exaly managed to keep the price similar to his original build.

Didn't think about taking a look at skylake, nice.
Note there's someone in the UK selling two 4690's tested working, for £100 each. They're supposedly collection only but you might be able to make a deal if you agree to pay for decent shipping.

oh I was unaware people traded on this site. might look into this its actually local thank you.

I took a look at the build you suggested too I was not really looking at intel cpus since they had a much higher price range but this seems pretty good.
oh and in regards to the optical drive I have a few games on disc its for them.

Could always image them?
