Opinions on my parts list (first pc build)

So being in one of the best highschool corses ever for our PC hardware unit we actually get to build pc's instead of having a test :D. so i thought this would be a good idea to make an awesome gaming machine. anyways i was just looking for peoples opinions on my current parts list.

Thermaltake MS-I commander, snow edition

Asus p8z77 vlx motherboard

i5 3570k. will be overclocking slightly (do have aftermarket cooling)

MSI Twinfrozr HD7950

kingston hyperX Ram. 8gb. 4x2. 1600mhz

OCZ vertex 3. 120gb

seagate barracuda 2tb. 64mb cache

windows7 ultimate 64bit

ultra lsp 750w psu

At a glance, looks good, though you probably don't need a 750W PSU unless you plan to CrossFire/SLI

I would recommend finding an alternative powersupply.

This PSU is manufactured by the same one as yours (the one reviewed is modular, only real difference):

Not a good idea

Hello Fumbimo,

I took a look at your rig, It looks really good except from the power supply. I made a list of the components i'd choose and a explanation why.

Intel i5 3570K, Completely agree with you on this one. If you want to overclock you might want to take a look at the 2500k since this overclocks better.

Asus P8Z77-V LX, Asus is always good and you chose it too.

XFX Double Dissipation HD 7950 Black Edition, Its a little bit cheaper than the Twin Frozer and its almost the same. Also it has a higher factory overclock (900mHz instead of 880 mHz). Another thing I personally like about XFX is their Lifetime warranty.

Seagate Barracude 2Tb 7200 rpm, You chose the same.

Thermaltake MS-I Commander - Snow Edition, A case is personal and this is a good case for the money!

Corsair Vengeance 8Gb 2x4 1600mHZ, I chose this above the HyperX because this has a voltage of 1,5 and the hyperx has a voltage of 1,65. On all other spec's they are basicly the same (Speed and Latency).

Cooler Master GX750w, I chose this instead of your power supply because the one you chose does not have the reputation the be a good power supply. Cooler Master is a good company for power supply's.

Samsung 830 Series 128Gb SSD, The SSD you chose has the reputation to fail. Literally the SSD just dies. That's why i'd choose for the samsung 830 series 128Gb since this is one of the faster SSD's on the market at the moment.

Extra: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, You didn't have a aftermarket cooler for your build. This is not really a problem but if you want to have better temperatures on your computer so its more stable i'd go for one. The hyper 212 is a cheap and good cooler.

This is my list of component you might want to consider some :)

Greetings,

Daniel

thanks for the input guys. some of the things i have actually already purchased on black friday because they were on sale such as the ram, cpu, graphics card and Daniel i actually have the hyper 212 evo. well the thermaltake branded one but pretty much the same thing. ram was $25 cpu was $180 and the graphics card was $315 and the psu was $65. and im in canada so everything is a bit more expensive for me so these were things i could not pass up on especially concidering my damn tight budget. Also the SSD was $55 and i got a 3 year warranty for another $6. will have everything on it backed up also

this is the link to the PSU

Think i could have found anything better for $65 and what are the disadvantages and problems with thiss psu??

Dont need that much power.

This is a much better built power supply. That one you have linked in the reviewed I linked, had really bad voltage regulation. But the more astounding thing is that it topped out at under 400W... Thats really bad.
