I'm going to be ordering the parts for the build in a couple of weeks and just wanted to get some opinions on what you guys think and what I can change/improve.
Nice build, but why go for near minimum performance DDR3 1600 memory? Surely not price!
Very nice.
Very very very nice.
Although, with that budget, why not Zoidberg Skylake?
Going to change the CPU to i7 6700k and change the mobo to VIII Hero.
What do you think?
And will the Noctua NH-D15 fit in the 1151 socket?
And if so, what is a good ddr4 low profile ram that will fit with the noctua unit?
As people said, with your budget, Skylake should be prio since you are making a gaming rig anyway.
Socket info, with regards to the heatsink, here.
As for RAM, low profile dims it's what you 've chosen already, you shouldn't have any issues.
Good luck setting it up, and may you enjoy it to your hearts content. :)
Thanks man :)
Would be handy if you could answer some of the Qs here, would help in giving a more concise answer (wouldn't have to explain pros and cons of every option for every use case scenario!).
I have changed the build a little bit.
I added the i7 6700k CPU and the Asus Maximus viii Hero Motherboard.
I just have one more question, what do you think on the 1000W PSU, is it overkill?
Because I heard the Zotac 980TI draws a lot of power and I'm just a little stumped on picking the right PSU.
BTW I will most likely not overclock the CPU in the future as I'm not really feeling it, but might consider it later on. And the build is going to be meant for long gaming sessions, mainly AAA titles.
Here is the new updated spec list http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gWyWqs
Do you already have a 4k monitor? Because you could shave a lot of fat from that build and easily get the money for one of the lower priced 4k monitors they've reviewed.
Yes, I have everything besides the computer.
I'm just stuck on deciding the PSU.
Could be a complete waste of money depending upon what you're using it for.
Budget. How much are you willing to spend? Trying to keep it under 2,500.
Do you need or already have peripherals? I have everything besides the PC.
What will you be using your Glorious computer for? Mostly long hours of gaming and occasionally watching movies and such.
Do you overclock or want to get into overclocking? I never overclocked before but will give it a go in the future.
Do you plan on going for custom water-cooling now, or in the future? No, I will not custom water-cool.
Operating System. Do you need a new one? I have a spare windows 8.1 disk.
i7's defo a silly choice then (unless you're playing some of the more CPU demanding games), I'd go with the skylake i5.
Change windows 8.1 to Linux and you should be good to go. (kidding)
