Opinions on McAfee?

If anyone has had any experiences with this av program please share...granted I probably already know what your experiences are but curious just the same.

one word: Crapware!

Serious Shit Software!! Hence Crapware LOL

Ounce you install it youll never be able to uninstall it!!

My school uses McaSHIT, I hate it. Dosen't block viruses for crap! Hence the name McaSHIT! AVAST and BitDefender FTW!

Mcafee is absolutely terrible.... I would go with Microsoft Security Essentials if you want free AV thats good. If you want to pay for something better get Nod32 or kaspersky.

well the reason i asked is... 3 or so years ago i did some IT work for my dads company he works for.  Its a  pipe company and the 3 pcs that were on the internet on his end of the building got malware and just got completly screwed up. They didnt have any protection on any of them because they thought the security program or what ever was on the server was enough.  Being that the machines were 7 years or older and none of theme had the recovery discs I suggested they get 3 new pcs.  I hooked them up, set them up, got them connected to the system and put Norton internet security suite.  I suggested at the time ethier norton, nod 32 or kaspersky, ive had excellent luck with the norton ISS since 2007, they really have one a 180 on their products from their earler days.  Well last week my dad informed me that some guy at work took norton off the machines on their end of the building and put mcafee and the guy claims its loads better.  I just shook my head in disbelief.

From personal experience I hate norton too.... That person is an idiot and probably doesn't know much at all.

It's a really bad AV. The only AV's I'd ever suggest using are Malware Bytes or Microsoft Security Essentials.

by the way, ALWAYS avoid Norton, it's malware at its finest. May god help you if you're trying to remove it from any PC.

Too add on, Norton also hogs up ram to

God knows best that AVG is amazing... they even have the free edition too....light on your system and keeps your mind peacefull. But on other hand I didnt have a AV software on my computer for past 4 years...dont really notice anything drastic on it...because I sort of realized which sites are safe..and I only use P2P on private Russian servers...

ever since 2007, ive never had trouble removing it, prior verisions of norton yes it was a pain...norton internet security suite product has been really smooth for the last 5 or so years and no one i know personlly has a had a issue with it.

The thing about security with IT pros is...very rarely will anyone agree on one product, one will say its the best, others will say its crap

also to add on...how would you know if it hogs up more ram?  would you look at memory usage?

gotta love that feeling. why i have a top two. d #q#1: avast and d #w#2: bitdefender

supposedly he is an IT pro...Im just not sure why they would change anything because they have been problem free ever since i did that 2 years ago

Terrible.

I used to like AVG, but it started removing SAFE stuff without consulting me.

Now using MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) And I've never been more satisfied with an anti virus software before. Uses close to no system resources, never nags you unless there are actual threats.

Avast barely uses any system resources either, it also updates constantly. Sometime 5 times in one day. That what I call staying on top of things

avast and AVG are always fighting neck to neck for best detectoin rate.... at the moment avast is ahead and uses a tiny bit less system resources. i seriously vouch for avast...

however, i dont use any AV, if you are smart and have noscript... you shouldnt get viruses in the first place.
