Opinion on two Asus 1440p Monitors

I currently have a 23" 1080p ASUS VX238H-W that I have been using for a few years now, and it works great for me on an every day PC that I also use for gaming.

Someone offered to buy my screen from me for around 100$ so I though about upgrading 1080p to 1440p. There are two Asus's that I am interested in.

First is the ASUS PB Series PB278Q a 27" 1440p PLS/IPS. The size is what most people will deem "right" for a 1440p, but aesthetically its not all there with its fat bezel and awkward base mount. $319 Refurbished, which I normally don't have an issue with, but I am sure it was refurbished due to bleeding, which my current monitor has none of and worries me a little.

Second is the ASUS PB258Q which is a 25" monitor, which I have heard mixed reviews about text being to small on Chrome etc. Looking for some feedback from people who might have tried a 2k at 25"'s. The aesthetic is much preferred with a nice thin clean bezel. It can be bought used for around 290$ which is a little cheaper, or new $319, the same price as a used PB278Q.

Any insight would be awesome as the guy wants to come get my monitor very soon, and I will be going like a week without a monitor. So the sooner I can make a decision the better <,<

I own the PB258Q, it's nice, has great color reproduction but backlight bleed is a thing unless if you look at it straight on, you also can't sit closer than 2 feet because then you see bleed everywhere.

Your post is a bit.. contradictory. its nice.. bleeds everywhere xD

Im not familiar with the monitors, though i will say that I think 27" is probably a good size if your looking at 1440p

To make your decision harder here is a link to lots of good monitor reviews http://www.tomshardware.com/t/monitors/

the viewing angle is just picky...

Have 2x PB278Q bought both used and have had no back light issues. Moved them to a 3rd party multi mount cause the bases are kinda large. Only thing i don't like about them is sometimes mouse movement feels a bit slow when playing CSGO.

I have been using a pb278q as my main display for i think around 2 years and have had no problems with it. I don't have any problems with the large base as i have a fairly deep desk. The image clarity and colors are really nice the most recent example of me noticing is i tried playing witcher 3 on one of my 1080p TN screens and even though i was at higher settings the image quality was night and day better on the pb278q. There is no back-light bleed that i can notice and at this point i could never go back to anything that is not IPS/ PLS 1440p or better.

There is also the really nice option of disabling the stand by and power led witch i had not seen on any monitor before (now if only i could disable it on my other monitors it might actually be useful for me).

I have not used the PB258Q so i wont comment on it.

I was really digging the pb258q because of the boarder-less bezel, but my two roommates like the pb278q more because of the hidden buttons; So more than likely I will get the 27". Hope I don't regret this later in the year when monitors get crazy :c

I have had a PB278Q for about a year now. I love it.

It is the smallest I will go for a monitor of this resolution. I love the color reproduction, its picture is way better than any other monitor I have had. I don't mind the size of the bezels either as I don't use spanning displays when gaming, only one, although I do use a multi-monitor setup. My only gripe about it is I have two dead pixels. You have to get really close and look for them to find them. One is stuck blue and near the bottom right of the screen. The other I forgot where it is, I just know it is there :p.

I highly recommend the PB278Q over the other monitor you suggested, I think things will be just a bit too small on it.

Found a pretty good deal on a PB278Q @ $300. It's used, but the guy agreed to send me two pictures, what do you guys think?
