Opinion on FX 8370 CPU

i want to upgrade from a fx4300 to a fx8370 and i just need opinions on how good it is :D and if its worth buying

It is an AMD 8350 with a slightly higher clock speed. Nothing too spectacularly different. Just get an 8350. It is cheaper and can be easily OCed to the speed of an 8370 or higher.

Overall the 8350 is a good CPU. It lacks single core performance but in multithreaded workloads it works very well. I love mine and it should be a noticeable step up from the 4300.

They draw a lot of power though more than your quad core. If you don' t have a decent motherboard you will need to upgrade.

if power is a consideration then yeah, thats an option.

depending on what you do with the system...

the mother board i have is a asrock 990fx extreme 3 it made to run 8core cpus so the cpu i have now is overclocked to 4.543ghz the 43mhz is to keep my ram stable at 1864mhz  but i no that its still a bottle neck lol and holding the whole pc back lol

im a hardcore gamer pretty much and do alot of research when somthing comes to mind lol

then i would recommend an i5 if you realy wanne see some huge improvements. idk which games you play?

Upgrading to an Intel Core i7 Haswell processor is going to be a major step up in performance, while lowering your power consumption. That does mean you'd have to replace your motherboard though which might not be cost effective.

I switched from and AMD FX-8350 to an i7-4770K and the difference is night and day!

For people who are just gaming the i7 is silly.

An i5 is fine. For most people an 8350 is fine.

yes, an i7 is kinda a waste of money for most games. only watchdogs slightly seem to benefit from it.

ya i agree a i7 is over kill but i want to stick with amd

actully my amd system with my fx4300 and 280x ran watchdogs smooth and with out any problems but anyone aht has a intel and nvidia system had issues lol

Basicly all FX cpu´s are the same so yeah. only diffrences are clockspeeds, and for the FX4xxx and FX6xxx they have disabled a couple of modules.

ya but my  fx4300 plays COD AW so smoothly its unreal :D combined with my R9 280x just blows your mind but does the disabled modules matter tho when gaming

yes offcourse an FX8 core has 4 modules with each 2 cores sharing cache and fpu, the FX4300 has only 2 active modules with each 2 cores sharing cache and fpu. If you play cpu bound games, that are optimized for 4 cores then it will definitely make a diffrence.

BUt yeah an i5-4690K will be better offcourse in cpu bound games, because of much better ipc. and single threaded performance.

oh ok make sence thats why i want to get a fx 8370 b/c the games thats are coming out now adays are bound to use more cores supposly so i want to be future proof lol

ya intel is made for cpu intenive stuff amd isent really and it relies on the gpu most of the time lol and thats were mantle comes in :P

Sure, an i5 would be a wonderful option too. It beats anything AMD has made. The downside is you also need to purchase a heater because your computer will no longer be one if you buy Intel!

lol true but the heat sink i have on the cpu has a push pull system with 2 120mm fans attached to it so it barely puts out much heat lol

That works too! At least you know next time you'll be getting an Intel.

i want to build a intel system but there so expencive to build one of the reason i want to stay with amd b/c it cheaper and i been with amd for many many years back to the athlon days
