Opinion of this HDD

I'm in the market to buy a mechanical HDD for my newly built system, at the moment I've only got a 120GB SSD that is full, I'm debating between going with a 1TB WD Black or this Seagate http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2tb-seagate-st2000dm001-barracuda-720014-sata-3-6gb-s-7200rpm-64mb-cache-8ms-oem-ncq . Which is double the storage for the same money, I've heard from some people that Seagate drives have slow access times as the heads keep parking after reading or writing a file. Is this true? Which one should I buy (please no fan boys)?

Their Laptop drives are durable. I haven't experiances the slow access times with many of the seagate drives at my computer networking class. I'm starting to like seagate more. I do prefer western digital, hitachi, or samsung. The hard drive you selected should do the job

i have both, they both still work. i used two barracuda seagates in my nas running raid0 and they've had 0 issues. most any 7200 rpm hd will run hotter in an enclosed area unfortunately, i ran the 7200 rpm wd black in my xbox 360 and it constantly ran so hot it would freeze it because of internal temps.. i had to use it somewhere else. seagate is definitely cheaper.

Barracuda's are good, although I've had better experiences with WDs. I have a 7200 RPM Seagate that's noisier than a jet engine and it's never been dropped.
