Operating system on ssd and files on hdd?

So here is my problem, ive been running my operating system and all of my files of a 1tb hard drive for the past two years. In this time i have gathered some 600gb of files. Furthmore i decided to buy a 120gb kingston hyper x ssd, my plan was to have my operating system (win 7) on the ssd and everything else on the hard drive... I put in my win 7 cd and proceeded to install it onto my ssd. Once the install was done i realised i couldnt open any of my old files as they were not in the right programs file location? They where in the hard drive rather than the ssd`s program files location. So i am now stuck with two opertaing systems on a hard drive and ssd and have no idea what to do. My guess would be that i have to reinstall all my programs again but change where they get installed to and install them on to the hard drive? Please could you guys give me a halping hand in what the hell i should do :(

Thanks guys :)

Okay, if you don't have anything on the SSD clear it completly or so it doesn't have anything. Now reconnect the HDD to the computer then get a USB or CD and back up the OS (clone basically) then unplug the HDD and connect the SSD , at this point you should go into the BIOS and boot from the either the USB or CD ( depending on what you used) . After go through what it askes you , after that now connect your HDD and check for two hard drives ( BTW after the back up with the HDD if you doesn't work as an internal drive get an external drive enclosures and you now have an external Hard drive .

p.s - I kinda need more clear information , i'm trying not to lead you to deleting your stuff

Something that you could do is delete the OS from your storage drive. You don't really need it there anymore and it is just taking up space. It would be ideal to have your programs on the ssd. That will make them run faster. Probably, what I would do is to move the files from the hdd onto an external hdd or something like that, then reformat it, and put everything back, as well as re-install all needed programs on the ssd. But do keep in mind the small amount of space on the ssd so only install the programs that you think that you will actually need/use.

Thanks for the help, but i am still unsure on what you mean the ssd has windows 7 on it and so does the hard drive. And what do you mean reconnect the drive when it is already connected? :)
