https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=126170 This guy had pretty much the same problem but re-seating the ram didn't fix my issue I am running a fresh install of antergos I was on archbang and arch before this and both worked fine.
Specs of system?
Antergos is kinda fucked. I'm not sure how people can even install it.
System spec
Have you checked the BIOS
I have an 8370 clocked at 4.1 GHz on an MSI 970 Gaming Mother Board with two 4GB dims of AMD R5 ram and a Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming.
Unless you installed a 32bit OS version in not sure how an OS can lose 4G of ram.
Check your BIOS for a "memory remap" setting. Make sure it's in the "on" position.
@Marten im sure its that, and if he doesnt want to reinstall again, you could install the [insert name of current kernel]-PAE and then reboot
Umm, no?
Umm, yes? Every machine I have tried to install it on (and yes they were newer than Phenom X2's) the installer crashed or the liveCD kernel panicked. Then I found manjaro and stopped caring.
Bad RAM? Could try running a memory testing program, such as MemTest86.
The ram all worked on my last install and I am using a 64 bit os.
Does the BIOS see the memory?
yes
Does a live linux disc/stick see the memory? Preferably a different distro.
Run MEMTEST on each one of the sticks of RAM, one at a time.
That will take much longer than simply check another distro. If an ubuntu or something can handle the 8 gigs and the antergos can not, it is probably not a hardware thing.
Not saying it is a bad idea but there are other options to look at first. ;)
4Gigs of ram, and 8370, and a 1080... my god youre a mad man. not that mad, but pretty
It could be worse, he could be using a Titan XP with an FX 4350 and 2 GB of RAM with 32 GB of cheap ass eMMC storage...
i've seen some pretty fucking lopsided builds aha. i have a friend with a 4350, 16gb of ram and an nvidia 640 with a 240gb ssd and 650 watt gold+ evga psu inside a corsair 300r. it hurts me
