Hey all,
Before you say, yes I know you have to be on different carriers to use either phone. Preface: My father is now making me(20 year old college student) have to begin paying for my own phone service. My question to you is should I stick with expensive Verizon and get the Droid Turbo (currently have a Droid Mini I think it is called?) or go over to a cheaper but less reliable service wise Tmobile and pick up a OnePlus? Also, I do have someone who could give me an invite for a OnePlus so no worries there. Any and all feedback would be appreciated.
I think from your perspective it looks like it might come down to the carrier and how much you want to pay per month for your service. If you look at specs the Droid wins, but you could buy the OnePlus One and then shop around for your service and use whatever you want rather than be locked to a contract.
I'm in Canada so our carriers are pretty much the same unless you want to go to their subsidiaries and maybe get a little bit more bang for your buck. My issue is that I have a plan that isn't offered anymore ($30 6GB data), so i'm going to try and get a OnePlus One and go that route rather than re-sign with something worse but possibly get a better phone.
Hope this helps a little.
I don't think you can go wrong either way, just make sure that the service for t-mobile or at&t is good in your area and choose accordingly(From what i have seen the droid turbo looks like it will be the best phone of this year (for my use) if the battery life is as good as they say it is supposed to be. Also I have gotten used to wireless charging and i don't think that i could ever go back to carrying around battery packs and cables. When it comes to the screen the pixel war is over, I personally own the nexus 4 and the htc one (m7) and my best friend has a lg g3. In real world use i do not notice the difference (reddit, youtube, texting, ect..) Lastly I would very highly recomend swappa for buying your phone, you can always get a great deal there (http://swappa.com/)
Also something that i have noticed is that buying a phone that is a year or two old has been really good for me, It seems like "older" phones loose like half of there value after the first year. My nexus 4 i got last year in December for $160 and i prefer it to my htc one. I can't express enough about how important the software is on a android device.
Eg. My sister has a Samsung Galaxy s5 and my nexus 4 runs circles around it in terms of apps loading, animations, web browsing.
OnePlus One. It is more customizable (e.g. capacitive or on screen buttons) will stay up to date with CyanogenMod and no contract. You can get the latest iteration every year for on contract prices of equivalent phones. If you want something with a long battery life and quick charge, the Nexus 6 looks far more compelling than the Turbo.
Hey all, So it turns out my friends OPO invite expired so I am currently using one of those burner trial phones (swapped to Tmobile on a loaner phone with intention of returning it). Now since I don't have an OPO invite, would y'all suggest getting a Nexus 5 or using this burner till the Nexus 6 comes out?
The Nexus 6 looks like it will be pretty nice, but off contract it will launch for ~$600 I believe.
How trustworthy is Swappa man?
