One screen won't auto wake

I upgraded my monitors yesterday, and one of my monitors won’t auto wake after upgrading.

Monitors: 3x Samsung Viewfinity S6 24 inch monitors
GPU: EVGA RTX 3070TI FTW3
OS: Linux Mint 21.3
All the monitors are connected through Displayport

Problem: Middle monitor won’t autowake, and I need to unplug and reconnect the Displayport cable for it to wake.

Troubleshooting steps attempted:

  • Swapped the monitor end of the cables between right and middle monitors, now right monitor won’t auto wake
  • Swapped the GPU end of the cables between right and middle monitors, now right monitor won’t auto wake

I suspect its a subpar cable but I am not sure, so I decided to post here for more help.

I’ve had similar issues before and it has been a cable problem 100% of the time.

99% it’s cable since the problem followed the cable and didn’t stay with the monitor. Only other thing I’d maybe test is by switching the port the cable is on the GPU. Very rare, but I’ve seen some GPU ports be slightly out of spec, but last time I saw this was like 2015 on a really old ATI card that was well overdue to be taken out back.

Update:
I lived with 1 monitor HDMI and 2 monitors Displayport for a bit, then I installed some shaders in Minecraft. I started having one of my screens randomly go blank then coming back when the GPU was under high load.

I finally bit the bullet and bought 3 high quality Displayport cables made by Lindy and all my issues went away

It was the cables afterall
