I recently updated to windows 10 1151 "Threshold" and now cannot connect to the internet via LAN. Wireless works just fine, but I don't reside in a room that is close to the house's router. I have tried scanning for corrupted files in the cmd and have also used DISM to no avail. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter drivers, reset the IPV4 &6, and even reinstalled windows just o have it happen again. I contacted Microsoft only to be jumbles around from their help desk to their "Professional" help line and back again only to get hung up on in the end. I am about ready to go back to windows 7 DESPITE my love for windows 10 (that and my GPU drivers dont work on win 7). ANY help is appreciated and thanks in advance.
I always say post on the forums to find the problems yourself. It's like back in the day when you where having problems, calling Tek Support will inevitably lead you to find the problem yourself before they even have a chance to tell you what to do.
I was using a 10/100 switch from late 2004 to split my internet up between my PC and PS4. As it turns out, just plugging the cat in straight from the router was the solution all along. I guess windows 10 wasn't compatible with the switch...
