I oftenly tried taking those, even started going up with the dose, but I can't seem to feel any difference.
Are these just rip-offs?
Tell me what you think about that.
It may be your expectations. What changes did you expect to feel?
Well depends on what you're trying to go for. Omega 3 is really good if you're someone who constantly get sick, or you workout, or even if you're an outdoors type of person. If your upping a dosage of any supplement, you better know what you're trying to do to your body, pills in general are really bad for your liver. The capsul surrounding may bring long term damage if you consume more than what is acceptable. I tend to consume Omega-3 with Acai juice for my smoothies. I try to stay away from capsules and usually try to consume either cheweables or powdered pills, i try to stay away from capsules.
Supplements are only good if you need them to fill what you lack.
It's better to adjust your diet then to take one...bbut sometimes that can be hard.
You won't notice a difference unless you were having issues prior...
Don't use in place of thermal paste ... or visa versa. \o/
Omega 3 has been linked to heart health ... growing hair and other things as well.
Eat right and exercise will be as good for you ... if not better. IMO
But that is easy for me to say from my wheelchair.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you might want to have a look at this http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/07/130710183637.htm
Great ... that's all I need.

Increasing the risk of prostate cancer doesn't mean you'll get it. Omega-3 is still very beneficial and if you lead a very healthy lifestyle then you shouldn't worry about it. Worrying increases the risk of serious health problems more than consuming Omega-3.
true that
food supplements are worth it if you have a deficiency.
If you are following a more or less healthy diet & life-style, you should not need any supplements.
It's very unlikely that you'll get any health benefits from consuming more then you need.
The only supplement useful for a healthy person is vitamin D during the winter if you stay inside most of the time.
If you feel unwell you might want to consult with a real doctor, your friendly internet forum is probably the wrong place for advice.
What's wrong with eating fish? Tastes good, it's healthy, and where does fish oil come from? ;)
It's a new age medicine, and its healing promises are merely based on pseudoscience. These pills are only produced to fatten up someone's wallet. And he's laughing his ass off, because he could make someone swallow something that tastes disgusting. While in the meanwhile they're paying for his giant T-bone steak. :P
The first time I read about these omega3 pills was on a dutch autism forum, where they tried to sell 'm to parents who have kids with autism. Because these pills supposed to be good for their brains. That exploitative behaviour made me so freaking furious. And they were not the only ones who tried to take advantage of people with autism. It's just too sick and so damn greedy, that I'm only able to feel hate towards people who are doing things like that.
Can I interest you in some Snake Oi.... I mean Fish Oil.
not everyone wants to eat fish everyday yuck
Omega 3 can be found in beans, seeds, veg, whole grains, herbs and spices.
I can totally relate with that. When I was younger I did not like fish at all. And back than we got every day a tea spoon whale oil, (which in fact was cod liver oil) in winter. The shivers still run down my spine when I think about how gross the taste was. Besides, someone doesn't have to east fish every day, to get enough vitamine D. And it certainly doesn't have to be these specific Omega3 pills. (and I mean that popular and quite expensive brand from the last years.) I still remember cod liver oil cap's were also used because they weren't so gross. And they are a lot cheaper than the Omega3 pills.
I think you should take these pills if you consume too much omega-6 which, I think, is found in certain cooking oils. I believe that a large omega-6 to omega-3 ratio would lead to an increased risk in heart disease. Veggies should have the right amount of omega-3.
Snake oil is great! I wish there was real snake in the stuff they sell.

As a few have said, supplements are only really a back-up for when you cannot get enough of something through proper diet or living. There are cases where people really do need to take things for various reasons, but you're better off simply adjusting your lifestyle if you can. Your body is also far more able to process things taken in in food or naturally produced then it is from pills. Vitamins and supplements should really only be used after personal consultation with a qualified physician, as highly concentrated doses can actually do more harm than good in many cases. I know a few friends of mine have had to treat patients with organ damage related to overconsumption of certain health supplements.
