Oh sony you so silly

this is just asking for trouble

>A patent application published today resurrects the rumor that Sony's next gaming console will suppress the playing of used games, and outlines how such a scheme would be accomplished without the use of an always-on Internet connection for verification. In short, an RFID ID stamped onto the new discs would track their usage history and restrict them to one console.

>Sony's technology would check a game disc's RFID tag, which is capable of remembering if that game had been linked to a different machine or account. This check is performed offline and before the game is played.

and here's the patent

this is gonna get messy since they stopped making the ps2

Well, that would be easy enough to get around, could anyone not just find out the code for "Unused" and set it to that with there phone?

And Failing that, just replace it with one that says unused?

If they try to get around that, the really will make a mess.

I hope this patent goes through and then kills the companies gaming market.

They'd certainly get what's coming to them for even thinking something this greedy.
