so i thought of creating a thread dedicated to mechanical keyboards on RTW .
id like to know the mechanical boards my fellow RTW members are using , post a pic of it and tell about why you chose the keyboard over other mechanical keyboards in the price range or why you prefer that particular type of switch
ok heres mine
ive got the Razer blackwidow ultimate

the main reason going for this was the availability in my country , the blue Cherry MX switches which i love and this is one of the few backlit mechanical keyboards out there
Blue cherry switches yadda yadda. No need for backlighting because it distracts me and I'm using a PS/2 connection like a boss so I have N-key roll over.
but i bet it is the only green back lit mechanical keyboard out there... but GreenSLI why are you going for the black switches?? they are pretty stiff why not go for the blackwidow or even some of the filcos out there?? IMO the browna nd the blue switches are the best out there even though they are noisy
Ive never tried a mechanical keyboard ever, so I don't really know. Last I asked in the irc, someone said black was one of the better ones for gaming.. mm
i think you ought to take a look at this Green im sure it will help you decide
maybe the Mechanical keyboard guide at OC.net will help you in deciding which mechanical keyboard to get
As soon as I find a job I'll probably be getting the Blackwidow Ultimate and a couple SSDs and a new hard drive (both for RAID 0 configurations of course).

Black and red (w/c are essentially blacks with less force required to actuate) switches are generally considered the best switches for gaming because their actuation and release/rest points are the same...unlike blue and brown switches where the actuation and release points are different. Thus, blacks and reds are better for games which require double tapping.
Browns are generally considered the best for gaming after blacks and reds because the actuation and release point are very close together. Blues are considered the worst for gaming because the actuation and release points are so far apart.
It is all a matter of personal preference really...but I do have trouble strafing in games with blue switches because I tend not to let the "a" and "d" keys up enough to reset and register again.
can you guys recommend any keyboards under $100 usd lol ive been rolling on one i got with my emachines computer 4 years ago. so please recommend some under $100 thanks!(:
