Offical ASUS Poll - AMD FX mATX Motherboard

Hello Tek Syndicate Army,

I am continuing to get feedback from users regarding the "want" of a mATX 900 series motherboard that offers rich features and functionality and solid overclocking. While there are some high performance quality mATX solutions currently available for AMD they are focused on the FM2+ platform and A series chipset. Users looking for Am3+ support generally have to consider entry level chipsets with limited design in regards to features, functionality and overclocking support.

While the 900 series chipset is a bit dates it still has solid specifications and we could improve many key points of functionality by introducing new features we have already released on our  latest Intel chipset based motherboards. What I would like to get a sense of is how many of you are interested in a high performance 900 series mATX motherboard.

Some of my specifications I would target in discussion with out PM ( product management team is noted below )

1. Current Fan Xpert III fan controls ( meaning true 3pin DC , 4pin PWM ) fan support with at least 5 fan headers

2. Intel NIC

3. Isolated audio design ( similar to our current Crystal Sound 2.0 )

4. High performance VRM design with robust heatsink and fan assembly. ( Ensuring overclocking on FX6xxx or FX 8xxx series CPUs would not have any issues )

5. Updated USB 3.0 support with full XHCI 1.0 support from ASMedia 1042A controller.

6. M.2 support should be possible so yes

7. Optional module for mini PCIe wireless module ( it would not be included to help reduce cost ).

If this is something you are interested in please select a choice from the poll link supplied below. Additionally if you have any questions, comments or feedback please feel free to note it in the comments section or submit it to [email protected]

please head to the link below if you want to vote on letting ASUS know if you are interested in having this board produced.

There is a strawpoll linked in the post for easy voting.

Nice, would like to see this work out!

I don't mean to be Rude.

But for The love of all that is Holy and Unholy, YES. OMFG YES. Please make an mATX board of the 990FX's Chipset. Choices to Choose from, a 990FX Gryphon and a 990FX Maximus Gene-Z board would be very nice to choose from.

A year or two ago i would of been very much interested. Here is one of the issues i see. Really the form factor has poor to very little case options when compared to the others. There are some but not like the other form factors. Plus the fact that most amd users are just waiting to see what they are going to put next year if anything. Personally, i would wait till they put out a better cpu. :)~

To be honest, at this point I'd rather just wait until the new AMD chips come out. The current line of FX processors are getting a little long in the tooth in my opinion. And with Skylake potentially coming in about a year, AMD really needs something pretty soon to keep them relevant. No sense in investing R&D into something that could/should be replaced soon.

What about a mini itx one?

I would have screamed YESS about a year and a half ago but at this point, I'd recommend you guys wait to see what AMD does next AND THAN release and MATX board and I'd defiantly buy it.

Like was said before, I would have extremely interested about a year or two ago, especially if there was a mini-ITX system offered. But it's too late for me and I'm not changing systems again.

My mini-ITX Intel motherboard has more features and connectivity (excluding expansion slots of course but I only need one.) than my Sabertooth R2.0 did :(

I would like to see a more "budget" related X99 gaming board. Asus is the only company who doesn´t have one. I know there is the Asus X99-A, But i think allot of people would like to have a more budged friendly RoG gaming board. Just look at the succes of the Maximus 6 and 7 Hero. I think that Asus should bring that concept to X99 aswell. like a Rampage Hero or something similar.

I was thinking about an Asus X99 Hero. In my opinnion this could be a best seller for X99.

About AM3+ M-atx sollutions, indeed the options for this are basicly very minimal. There are a few M-atx boards with older chipsets, but theire Vreg design just sucks. So yeah it would be nice if Asus could bring a decent 990FX m-atx board, with a decent power delivery design, to overclock the max out of any FX cpu. Also intel nics on those boards would be great, because realtek is not that great.

But on the otherhand, the 990FX chipset is still a very usefull chipset, however, we do need to realise that the platform is showing its age right now. I dont think that AMD is going to bring something rediculously new for AM3+ platform. So yeah is it still worth it for a big company like Asus to invest time in it?

They could make an X99 board under their gamer (not ROG) line like an X99-PRO Gamer so it would be a "gaming" board without the ROG premium price

Better late than never I guess.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually think there are a wide range of mATX chassis ( as these are the same ) that Intel mATX users select. As to the timing this would be for current CPUs as AMD road map focus is clear that it is on FM2+ not AM3+. With that noted we still see sufficient demand from users building and considering FX based CPUs with 900 series based chipsets. In the long run we are only considering one board which is minimal as producing more for this platform would not make sense. Ultimately this is the goal of this survey to see how much really engagement and interest there is. Thank you for your feedback.

No due to the complicated nature of mini ITX designs and the limited market the focus will be solely on development of a mATX based solution. Thanks for your feedback.

This is in reference to the current chipset and CPU. Any next generation chispets will have a high degree of focus assuming they are similar to the current 900 series or A series chispets. This is shown currently in the fact we produce a wide range of board for these current chipsets. With that noted thank you for the feedback.

Damn nice work. Yeah late to the party but I would be interested. This could rock a living room virt box.

The X99-A is our entry solution and is extremely feature and functionality rich. The Fan Controls alone are superior to any competitors highest end board. The HERO is only for mid range chipsets. For the enthusiast chipset it would be EXTREME or FORMULA. Users wanting to go a lower price point should consider Z97.

I thank you for the feedback.

In regards to design, development and production of a mATX 900 series motherboard as noted previously this is why I had posted the submission poll to help and gauge interest and see if it justifies the time and effort and resources.

  • And probably like 14 various Silverstone, In Win, and Lian Li cases.

Well even though I don't have a use for an mATX AM3+ board (I'm too busy rockin a crossblade ranger) I would like to see an AM3+ mATX board because AM3+ lack a lot of variety and we still get the occasional person that wants a build with an mATX board with an 8350. So I'm all for making one of these boards because in could end up a hit because some people didn't know they wanted it until it existed.

Unless you have a 9590, or a 5Ghz 8350, the i5 4460 just creams the FX line at this price point

I actually like the pandora one. I have been looking at them for my overclocked aio cooled htpc. :) Here is my fav but man the price.
