I'm going to be building a new PC very soon (in sometime this week) and I'd like to know whether I should buy an OEM version of windows or the full price one. I don't want to spend double the price if I don't need it, advantages/disadvantages would be great.
Do you have a previous version of windows you can install? Because you'll need an OEM otherwise.
OEM = 1 license and its tied to the motherboard of that computer, so if you decide to upgrade the motherboard, you'll have to get a new license.
Retail = 1 license, can be installed on any computer and isn't tied into any hardware.
Personally, I would just get the OEM version of Windows 8. Its the same thing as W7, but with some improvements and controversial Modern UI start menu (I find it better than W7, I can see all of my installed software at once and organize them accordingly.)
Yeah, but drivers aren't going to be completely optimized until service pack 1 comes out.
Let's be honest, does anyone buy Windows?
Just pirate it.
what i did when i built my latest build at christmas was just get a trial version of windows 7 ultimate then found an activatior online
