OBS and Windows 8.1

Last week I "upgraded" (and I use that term VERY loosely) from Windows 7 x64 to Windows 8.1 x64.

NOTE:  [See my profile for the specs of my machine]

Everything seemed to be ok (still getting used to Win8) until I tried to capture some game play last night.  I fired up OBS, Fired up Guild Wars 2.  Started recording, began playing.  All appeared to be fine - although I did noticed a larger than normal drop in FPS while recording.

FYI:  I'm capturing the game at 1080, superimposing my webcam (Logitech C900) in the lower left corner and recording all of that 30FPS.  Done it a hundred times with the same machine before.

Anyway, an hour or so later, I stopped playing and recording.  I dropped out of the game and went to check my results.  The audio is perfect, from both the game and my mic.  The video on the other hand is not.  There are severe stutters and lag spikes throughout the entire video.

Before I take this to the OBS forums, I'm wondering if anyone here saw a performance drop/recording issues with OBS when they switched from Windows 7 to Windows 8?

My first stab at trying to help this situation is updating all the drivers for the mobo last night (most of which came out in July of this year).  It was so late that I've not had a chance to see if that improved things, but I will today after work.
