hey guys, due to the small amount of PCIE lanes on consumer AM5, im thinking of using the PCIE 5.0 Nvme as a PCIE input for a SAS controller.
i dont see any reason this wont work. and im not worried about throughput or saturation as the array will be large, but Kinetic Discs. so ill probably only need 6-8000mbps.
im writing too see if anyone is doing this or has done this, and how reliable it might be. i dont really see it being unreliable or dodgy but you never know. going down this path i can put 3 SAS controllers on the platform, 2 on the chipset (1 via NVMe redirection and 1 via PCIE 4.0 slot) and 1 directly to the CPU via the 5.0 NVMe slot.
sounds like a good idea?
