Wow I’m pretty surprised. This thing is damn close to a 1080. With even a mild OC, so long as it isn’t too bandwidth limited, it will be the same or faster.
I didn’t think they’d give it that many CUDA cores.
Depending on the price this thing seems like it could be a very good option. Basically a 1080 for less money.
Assuming you can get them and miners don’t swallow them up… I think they were in fact worried about Vega 56. Vega 56 is a threat to the 1070 ASS-uming the AIB’s ever release the 56 and you can actually get performance gains. This takes the crack RTG left open borking the shit out of Vega and smashes through it so Vega beats nothing from NVidia lineup.
All it’s missing compared to a 1080 is 5% of CUDA cores and some memory bandwidth (gotta love G5X). Purely based on numbers I think it could perform within ~10% of the 1080 for a chunk of change less. If it can hit $400 on sale I think it will be a very reasonable card for the money.
