I was looking into upgrading my Graphics card, and found the NVIDIA Shield is now shipping! I suspect that there is no work around yet for adapting to a AMD GPU, but since I primarily play Source Engine games like GarrysMod and... that's it really.... How cheaply could I get this system going, since I'd have to buy a NVIDIA GPU aswell? And does the Shield support access from non local networks (like connecting to it while on my lunch hour)?
No, It doesn't even if it did the latency from a non-local connection would make the game-play horrendous. However the shield does play android games as well so playing Grand Theft Auto Vice City while on lunch would be possible. The Shield Requires Nvidia GTX 650 or higher graphics card.
So the latency would be the ping right? From my house to my location, then if its multiplayer, to the server?
Ping, plus how long it takes to actually download each image.
You could theoretically play, if you used a streaming app to stream your desktop to your Shield. Linus and slick did the same thing with a phone and xbox controller.
How could I find that magical moment you are talking about? Do you remember where it is by chance? I can imagine my TeamViewer app + a controller of some sort working...
Thanks. I may give that a try. Or just wait and see if the Shield add support for long range play.
