Nvidia or Radeon

Hey guys.

What would you currently choose GPU wise if you wanted a good graphics card to play games on max settings in 1080p? I will be playing games such as. BF3/4 Crysis 3, Bioshock Infinite?

Should I pick up a 7970 for $400 (I am in Australia BTW) and get the amd reloaded?

GTX 770 just for the new hardware. GPU boost 2.0?

Or should i wait for the new radeon cards apparently coming out in September?

Which would you choose.

Any feedback would be great. thanks for viewing my post.

If the 770 is under 500 I would do that other wise get the 7970 I am unsure of prices where you live.  What I am saying is that if the 770 is a similar price get that but if it is a lot more expensive get the 7970 or wait.  The thing with waiting though is the new gpus will be more expensive then what you are lookin at if you were waiting for the 8970 or 8950.

I used to go for Nvidia over AMD cards based on the assumption that nvidia had better driver support, it used to be true but not now so literally both manufacturers are as bad as eachother with drivers.

Pick a card thats in your budget and does what you want, the software side is identical, both as bad as eachother.

In terms of performance values, it can go either way. I would advise getting whatever card is cheapest. You might want the games in the reloaded bundle, or you might choose to buy them individually, be more selective. Games are usualy optimised for AMD, that includes Battlefield 4.

It really is a toss up between these cards, since the 770 tends to be cheaper, where I am from. You won't be disappointed with either.

the 770 comes out as around $80+ more expensive than the 7970.

If there's newer AMD cards coming out in September, probably wait for that, but the 7990 is already available via PCCG, J&W and MWave.

as far as my limited experience with either brand can serve me, i'd go for Nvidia. it's not just the fanboy in me talking, i used to have a 9800 GT and "upgraded" to an HD 7700, and i've been regretting it ever since. that Catalys control center is a piece of crap. all I can say is that Nvidia is more professional about their software and support.

Nvidia if you want all the bells and whistles.
