I just wanted to know what Gpu should I pick up to have a good experience on Linux, I don't mind installing the drivers the one thing that I care about is flat out performance. I've heard mixed opinions on both AMD and Nvidia so I decided to ask you guys which one should I go with.
As of late it seems AMD is better for linux, with the open source drivers. You also get the bonus of dirt cheap cards with good pref (290x's can go as low as some 970's, and outpreform them)
If you want proper opensource drivers or decent OpenCL support then AMD cards win hands down.
From my own experience the latest Nvidia blob installed with no issues in OpenSuse 13.2 and performs well, I can't say the same for the latest AMD drivers on my Ubuntu LTS build. That turned into a nightmare - but might just be down to my own incompetence!
