nVidia licenses Kepler GPU for mobiles

There ya go. I think this is awesome. Now we're finally seeing companies stop trying to take a huge chunk of the pie by copyrighting technology for their exclusive use, to sell over-priced and under-performing products. Now any company can use Kepler GPU technology in their mobile devices. It may be too little too late, but I think this model will work well with Maxwell and Volta.

I also think that if AMD follows a similar approach with their Stream Processors, that'd be awesome. Eventually, we might see the same happening to CPUs, although that chance is much slimmer. And given the profit margins on Desktop GPUs and Desktop CPUs, that isn't likely to happen anytime soon. Much less those expensive HPC cards, like Intel Phi, FirePro, and K20X... and the server market is out of the question.

But for mobile devices, this does seem reasonable. And considering that Tegra 4 and Tegra 4i are delayed and so far behind, it's likely we'll just see more and more of a focus (from nVidia's part) towards the technology licensing model, rather than the actual chip production model they've been using so far.
