Nvidia Driver with win 7 and 200 series problem

I installed the latest driver (for the first time) from Nvidia for a Gigabyte GTX 260 OC on a Windows 7 64bit build 7100.
And it fucked up my PC.

after five attempts of restarting my computer it finally enabled me to be able to see my screen so i could write this.
sometimes it shows me the desktop after start up then once again shows a blank screen.

Also when i clicked on NVIDIA control panel the screen went blank and my monitor automatically went on standby.

Solutions or words of comfort please.

Get windows 7 final build, or use vista drivers.

get thos drivers uninstalled and completely wiped and try a older one...i remember using a vista driver for win 7 for a 8800gts a long time ago but cant remember what drivers

but i think you should try and get win7 final build like greensli said which i think is 7600
