Nvidia cards

Would you guys consider buying one a good investment? All I plan on doing is gaming.

Thing is, on big open games like planetside 2..I think PhysX really would matter.

Here's a video to kinda explain what I mean http://youtu.be/n5qhaEghJ74 .

I have NO set budget, so I do not mind losing some FPS for the physx feature. I am aware amd has TressFX but it just doesn't seem as big of a thing to me.

BUT, if it really doesn't matter I'd rather save some $$ and grab an AMD cards. I just really like the look PhysX gives.

edit: I'M NOT LOOKING FOR GRAPHIC CARD ADVICE I AM JUST WONDERING ABOUT PHYSX.

7950 is within 5% of a 7970 when set at the same clocks

a 7870 is a good card

Well, if you have no set budget, then dual SLI Titans is the way to go. However, 2 grand is a lot to spend on graphics cards; I would recommend getting a 7950, 7950 CF, 7970, 7970 CF, 7970 6GB, or 7970 6GB CF for ideal price/performance, but, AMD cards are.... different. They push more frames, but are pushing strange, messed up frames, and possibly only display half of the frames they calculate. This leads to a 680, despite not being as powerful as a 7970, it will most likely look smoother at equal or lower frames/second. That being said, a 2GB 680 won't be nearly as useful at any resolution above 1080/1200p. The only 670 or 680 I would recommend getting are the 4GB models, but the price scaling is terrible. A 3GB 7950 or 7970 would be better than a 2GB 670 or 680 if you plan on running monitors higher than 1080/1200p, or a multi-monitor system with several 1080p/1200p monitors; it really all depends on your monitor setup. But, like I said, the best combo is Titan SLI, 2-way. Still, by no set budget, I take that to mean you still want it to be a cheap as possible.

I believe he ment anything decent between 150-350 bucks...

The new way to measure frame rating and fps, points out that AMD CF is not worth it in most cases, so if you are planning to go dual gpu on a future, until a big driver update comes in, you want to go Nvidia.

If you are not interested on dual gpu, get a nice 7950 ;) they are worth it, and overclock really well!

And to finish your questions off, Planetside 2 may be enabling Physx features. I love the idea of physx on gaming going mainstream, but unfortunately AMD cards are not officially Physx capable. Regarding Planteside I don't think it's going to change gameplay at any considerable way, so the GPU won't mind much.

A 660ti (around $ 300) is a great option for gaming if you are picking Nvidia, is a great overclocker, awesome SLI gpu, and almost as sick as a GTX 670 with MiR offers at $259.99 right now).

Lol. I know about graphics cards. By no set budget I meant getting something of good value. A 660ti or 7950 would be my absolute max, I'm pairing it with a 6300. I was just wondering about PhysX......

I'M NOT LOOKING FOR GRAPHIC CARD ADVICE I AM JUST WONDERING ABOUT PHYSX.

All I want to know is about PhysX... -_-

PhysX on AMD works on the cpu PhysX on nvidia works on the gpu.

It can be a pain to enable physx on amd becase you have to go in to the games registry files to enable it

Would it not just be better to go Nvidia then? I mean the 6300 is good, but for Ps2 I think it would not be pro choice.

Nvidia is the way to go if you whant PhysX
