NVIDIA Adaptive Vsync ? And a War Z?

Hello everyone, does the nvidia adaptive vsync lower your FPS at all in games? Will it hurt performance in any negative way? And now my War Z question which is about my GPU.

I have an EVGA GTX 260 Core 216 896mb Superclocked Edition. Will War Z be playable on my GPU? The system requirements for War Z are "If your computer has at least 2GB of RAM, has video card that supports Shader Model 3.0 - then you should be able to play The War Z. " I got that info from thewarz.com. That is very vague. And yes I am aware of all the controversy surrounding War Z. But I have been following further development of the game and they seem to be headed in the right direction.

If you meet atleast the recommended specs, you should be okay, but I would recommend you try to upgrade. I have a six core CPU and a GTX 670 and it's still quite taxing on my system when running the game with max settings. You might be about to play it on medium, but just look into getting a HD 7770 or a GTX 650. Those should be excellent for running that game. I said running, not getting 60fps with max settings.

Did this in two parts to answer both questionsand making it a bit easier to read. Nvidia V-sync does lower frame rates in all games that don't have auto V-Sync, like Skyrim. It's not a huge hit like normal V-Sync can be, and it does not always work that great. When it works, it's amazing. Gives you V-sync, to 60Hz I think is the default, but minimizes the FPS impact.

The sight does give the best explaination of everything. In theroy it turns off v-sync when you get lower than, lets say, 60 and turns it on when you are 60+.

Well as long as War Z is playable at least on medium settings then I will give it a shot but before that here are my full system specs.

Antec 900 Case

Thermaltake Smart M750W PSU

Asus P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP

WD 500gb Caviar Black HDD

6 gb DDR2 800 RAM

Intel QX6700 @2.66GHz

EVGA GTX 260 Core 216 896mb Superclocked Edition

Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Sound Card

I dont want to drop $15 on War Z if it wont be playable for me. The overkill PSU is because my old 550w died last month so I bout the Thermaltake to carry over to when I build my new rig. Thanks a bunch for the link to the nvidia adaptive vsync info it helped me a lot!

Your GTX 260 will not be able to run the game. The minimum requires a GTX 460 or ATI 5850. As for you CPU, it will make minimum specs, but it still might have issues. Your ram is quite slow, but I am not sure how much will impact it other than it will. The War Z will not run on your computer sadly, and if it did it would not be an enjoyable experience
