I'm making a budget Gaming Computer for my folks, and I've run into a problem, which happens to be the most essential part of a gaming computer: the GPU.
For about $100, I can choose either the PNY XLR8 512mb GDDR3 9800GTX or the HIS IceQ 1GB GDDR5 HD5670. Both are the same price, so price isn't a problem, the only problem is choosing older model DX10 powerhous 9800GTX, or the newer technology (2 GDDR memory generations ahead, fast clocks, faster memory speed) DX11 HD5670.
Benchmark wise, the 9800GTX dominates the crap out of HD5670:

(It's actually on par with the 5750, which is only a tad more expensive)
And... Spec-wise, HD 5670 has faster clocks, and newer technologies:

...So ultimately, it's a choice between a DX10 powerhouse, or a newer more advanced DX11 pioneer.
Games that friend definitely plays:
-EVE Online
-CoD Black Ops
-CoD Modern Warfare 2
-Battlefield Bad Company 2 (would be advantageous for 9800GTX for physics)
-Starcraft 2
