Nvida driver casues bsod

Does anyone have experience with bsod diagnosis? I was playing street fighter 4, then my computer crashed.

  1. I tried to reboot, however my computer would crash before booting up.

  2. So after trying to reboot 10 times with no success, I booted into safe mode, that worked somehow, I discovered that the nvida drivers for my 560 ti were crashing my computer. Using a windows default driver did not crash my system, and that is what I am currently typing this long plea for help on.

  3. After trying to re-install windows I discovered that re-installing nvida drivers, did not solve the problem, I tried to re-install windows 3 times, and every time I install my nvdia drivers, I would receive a bsod when I tried to boot into my system.

  4. I was told by some helpful people, to try and wipe clean my drivers off of my computer, I followed a pretty through guide on how to completely delete nvida drivers, and then I tried re-installing them, still I was getting a bsod.

  5. I called my video card manufacturer EVGA and they told me to install a program, ddu (display driver uninstaller) to clean the driver off my computer, I tried this about 5 times, same result, bsod.

  6. Another call to EVGA reveled that a problem possibly exist with my power supply and it may be failing, I'm not so sure about that, because I'm typing this on my computer that has the problem. I tried to explain it was the nvida driver, however the technician insisted it was my power supply and he explained that nvida drivers can take more power than default windows drivers. I'm not so sure about that though.

I'm getting code, 0x00000116, I don't have another system, or friends computer I can try this out on, so I'm not really sure what to do here. should I buy another power supply? Or is there another something I haven't thought of?

Try an older driver. That would be my advice.

Your GPU or your PSU could very will have an issue.

i was having this issue a while ago, and it turned out it was my card. i went through days of procedures testing ram, power supply, and finally just decided to RMA my card. i haven't had the issue since.

How bout no.
Edit.

Well that's mean, I even said I was being sarcastic

I did try to use some older dirvers, I tried about 2 other drivers, one from December, one from November. If it's the card, there's nothing I can do, my card is outside it's warranty. I might have to stick a fork in it then.

you aren't putting any stress on your PSU or GPU right now, if you reinstalled windows your driver is already as clean as it can be

so ya, legacy driver, or try a spare PSU/GPU if you have one, your CPU probably has integrated graphics you can use to see if that works fine

This has happened to me and my girlfriend as well on three different graphic cards. My GTX 650ti, my 860m and her 310m, all have experienced BSOD caused by video driver failure.. the solution is to revert to some of the later Win8 drivers.. Failing power supply can´t be BSODing your Win, it either shuts down your PC as a failsafe (cause of some conductor leaking) or shuts down wihtout any notice like fans going crazy or conductor stinking.. anyway, good luck with the issue :)

I tried some more drivers, one from last April, one from December 2014. The driver from April actually froze when it tried to boot, but the December 2014 driver gave me a bsod. I called nvida directly, they told me to re-seat my video card, I tried that, nothing. So, I think the video card is has just gone bad.

I just finished testing my Power supply with a multi-meter, I know everything is fine with it, the 3.3v, the 5v, and 12v pins were fine, I even tested the pci-e cable, and it gave me 12 volts. So I really don't think it's the power supply, I tried again re-installing windows, but nothing. My hardware is 4 and half years old, so, I think I might just replace everything. I called a local computer tech before i tested the PSU, he said to also check the memory, just to rule it out too, at this point, I'm just so tired, I've been trying to get this thing to work since Friday, and I just feel so defeated.
