I am going to get a gaming headset, but I also have a surround system for my pc. (My old home theater) On console games I can have the audio running through the speakers and the chat function running on a headset for fps games and coops. Can this be done on pc games as well? In the past I only used headsets.
Do you mean use the microphone from the headset and speakers together? It will work if you plug in the right cables.
Yeah, the receiver hooks up through optical cable but the headset is USB.

My default audio device is a USB interface (that I use for recording music), but I can still plug into the analog ports on the back for a mic. Not sure how headsets work in that regard, but wouldn't you not want background noise from the game bleeding into mic communications?
