Npu

In addition to installing the Bios update, I was told I should download the NPU update as well.

Should I do that? I’ve never heard of that programs, although a Google search seems to indicate that’s it’s important.

its a co processor for accelerating AI, if you don’t use AI you don’t have to, I however like to have drivers for hardware so windows isn’t constantly pinging about hardware it doesn’t know about

you should have a driver on the manufacturer of the mobo/laptop/SBC website

if its an intel CPU, intel might have it on its site but its notoriously convoluted

Thanks. I have an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 6 Core AM5. I’ve been to the system so I know where to look. Anything else I should know or do?

I don’t believe this CPU has an NPU. Where are you seeing the need for this update?

It’s listed as an option on the cpu’s driver web page.

Sometimes these NPUs have security updates as well so you might as well install them? You can take a peek at the change log and maybe search for security adjacent terminologies.

I’m going to just leave it alone.
