Novice builder need some help

Because my current setup is almost 6 years old I'm about ready for a new pc.
I have been out of the game for a while I am not totally sure about my setup.
What do you guys think? Budget is around €1100,- since I am located in Europe.

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87x-UD3H
  • CPU: Intel 4670k
  • Memory: Crucial Ballistix 16gb 1600mhz cas 9 DDR3
  • Case: Fractal Design R4
  • GPU: MSI AMD 280x or MSI GTX770 (can't decide!)
  • CPU cooler: Scythe Mugen 4 PCGH edition
  • PSU: Cooler Master VS V550S or Seasonic M12ii 620w

*re-using SSD and hard drives from old setup

What do you guys think about this setup. The things I can't really decide on is the PSU and the GPU.
My main goals is gaming and overclocking. 4,2ghz on the 4670k is what I aim for which shouldn't be to much of an issue not nevertheless I would want a reliable psu but I don't know if I should spend the extra money for a gold psu?

Next, the gpu. Nvidia has treated me well in the past. I like their drivers but I don't mind giving AMD a chance. How do you guys feel about the 280x now mantle is out?

thanks in advance!

I would go with the 280x. The cards are very closely matched, so close that it comes down to what game is optimized for that card. But the 280x can also be used for mining, And it comes with mantel

It seems really solid, You should probably go for the 280x but if you find the 770 on sale ór something that will be just fine too.

Yeah they are really close together it's crazy. Wat do you think about the PSU.
With my overclock or just in general. Do you guys think I need a gold PSU or will the Seasonic M12ii be enough? The only gripe I have with it is that it is somewhat dated but it seems like it's stil a really solid psu.

if you don't need the 16gb of memory grab two 4gb sticks. leaves room for upgrade later on and saves you some bucks.

the gold psu would just make your power supply run more efficiently. few pennies off the electric bill

What is you budget for you power supply.  The m12ii will cut it too closely

About €80. What do you mean with cutting it too closely. As in stability/ripple etc. or just pure wattage?
I calculated my wattage needs and overclocked it came to about 430watts so I figured a 550 gold or 600+ bronze would be sufficient. What do you think?

I used this site: http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine

and it came out at just under 600 watts. If that site is correct, I would personally go for a 650 watt minimum.

Looks like a solid build dude. I would go for the 280X because of Mantel, it's working wonders with my 270X.

Bought the ram a while ago because I got a good deal on it so can't make any changes to it now.

Was not more expensive then 8gb now so it doesn't really matter ;)

What do you think about the psu choice?

i would go for a 650 watt psu. i run an amd 8350 and a gtx 780 off a 650 watt psu.
