Because my current setup is almost 6 years old I'm about ready for a new pc. I have been out of the game for a while I am not totally sure about my setup. What do you guys think? Budget is around €1100,- since I am located in Europe.
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87x-UD3H
CPU: Intel 4670k
Memory: Crucial Ballistix 16gb 1600mhz cas 9 DDR3
Case: Fractal Design R4
GPU: MSI AMD 280x or MSI GTX770 (can't decide!)
CPU cooler: Scythe Mugen 4 PCGH edition
PSU: Cooler Master VS V550S or Seasonic M12ii 620w
*re-using SSD and hard drives from old setup
What do you guys think about this setup. The things I can't really decide on is the PSU and the GPU. My main goals is gaming and overclocking. 4,2ghz on the 4670k is what I aim for which shouldn't be to much of an issue not nevertheless I would want a reliable psu but I don't know if I should spend the extra money for a gold psu?
Next, the gpu. Nvidia has treated me well in the past. I like their drivers but I don't mind giving AMD a chance. How do you guys feel about the 280x now mantle is out?
I would go with the 280x. The cards are very closely matched, so close that it comes down to what game is optimized for that card. But the 280x can also be used for mining, And it comes with mantel
Yeah they are really close together it's crazy. Wat do you think about the PSU. With my overclock or just in general. Do you guys think I need a gold PSU or will the Seasonic M12ii be enough? The only gripe I have with it is that it is somewhat dated but it seems like it's stil a really solid psu.
About €80. What do you mean with cutting it too closely. As in stability/ripple etc. or just pure wattage? I calculated my wattage needs and overclocked it came to about 430watts so I figured a 550 gold or 600+ bronze would be sufficient. What do you think?
