So
I have a broken PC. It needs a new motherboard, and my case has messed up usb ports which I'm assuming is what shot my motherboard. I'd like to fix it with some of my income tax and have it makin' me proud again like it should
Here's what I'm working with;
CPU: AMD FX6300
Cooler: NZXT Respire T40
Mobo: ASUS 970 2.0 LE
GPU: AMD Sapphire 7790 GHz Edition 1gb
PSU: XFX 550watt bronze+ nonmodular
Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws X 2 x 4gb
HDD: WD caviar blue 1tb
I'm not sure what I wanna do with it. As of now it's dead. I'm like 95.89% sure it's just the case and motherboard. But I don't know how I feel about buying a motherboard for the same socket I did 3 years ago.
I'm just looking for some overall advice and suggestions, like if you think it'd be worth switching to maybe some newer hardware in certain places etc. What case, what motherboard. Not trying to sink a ridiculous amount of cash into it, because I honestly was quite content with my rig. Besides my 1gb gpu... But hey that's why I'm up for suggestions! The 6300 wasn't bad, had good overclock.
BTW I'm also totally down for buying used if you find Ebay deals LET ME KNO I got my friend a sweet pc for the same money this costs back in the day
What budget? and what country?
US, no set budget. Around like 160 for the case and mobo give or take.
But I'm getting more than that back. I'm just not trying to go too crazy lol
Did you check the psu. Shot motherboard usually means shot psu and vise versa.
Then Ima go with, buy a cheap motherboard and save up for a new PC sometime, the ASrock 970M board is pretty alright anyways considering the price

Now or never I need a PC. I work like crazy and have a girlfriend and am busy a lot I just wanna have it done while I'm off next week I don't care enough to make a project out of it. Just something to come home drink some brews and play some shit on when I have a time to spare. i only play less demanding titles and shit that comes on sale. however itd be nice to run fallout or gta a little nicer mayb
no lol im trying to pretend thats not a thing it still turns on thoo like the light n such
I would check out microcenter. For am3+ they seem to have the best prices.
When I got my 8320e with the asrock 970 they took 40 off the MB. With a 15 buck mail in rebate the thing would only cost 10 bucks.
For an extra 5 bucks got the 3 year protection plan.
Forget that. @Streetguru link is awesome, I have the same board and I love it, the newegg deal blows away the MC deal.
I would try the ram sticks one at a time just to make sure.
