Noob needs help on whether he is doing a mistake with PC component parts

Building a PC, want to be safe and not make a dumbass mistake. Here is my configuration:

  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4770K 3.50 GHz 8MB Intel Smart Cache LGA1150 (All Venom OC Certified)
  • HDD: 500GB Western Digital Caviar Blue SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 7200 RPM HDD [-5] (Single Drive)
  • MEMORY: 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3/1866MHz Dual Channel Memory (G.SKILL Ripjaws X)
  • MOTHERBOARD: [CrossFireX/SLI] ASUS Z87-K Intel Z87 Chipset DDR3 ATX Mainboard w/ 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, 2x PCIe x16 (1 Gen3, 1 Gen2), 2 PCIe x1 & 3 PCI (Pro OC Certified) [+1]
  • SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO
  • VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB 16X PCIe 3.0 Video Card [-21] (Powered by MSI [Free 3DMark Advanced Edition coupon w/ MSI video card] [+0])
Also add a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo, 500 Watt EVGA 80 PLUS as my PS and Windows 8.1 64bit

you could get 1600 instead and save a couple bucks or if you got it for a good deal. Besides that it looks good put it all in pcpartpicker.com to see what kinds of deals you can get.

every thing looks fine but get a 4670k and go for a R9 280x video card instead.  Also get a 1tb caviar blue its only like $5 more.  For your power supply I would recommend you step up to the evga 600watt if you are going for the 280x video card
