I want to OC my GPU (Sapphire HD 7770 GHz Edition) but any slight OC on it (Core clock 1000 MHz, OC'ed to 1050) causes it to crash a game. I thought it might have to do with needing to up the voltage, but I don't want to burn anything up.
Can anyone point me to a guide of when to up the voltage, by how much, when is too much, and everything else GPU OC related?
bump it up 0.010 Volts at a time, ive seen some 7770's use 1.25 volts but id stay under 1.2V if its a moderate overclock/its stable.
My 7770 is standard at 1.2v, the XFX DD GHZ edition, does 1200mhz with no extra voltage, and 1550mhz on the memory.
I made a log of my OC and testing. You can view it here: http://pastebin.com/i3qvgV1e
Final OC:
- Core: 1175MHz
- VRAM: 1250MHz
- Volt: 1.20v
Will be running RE6 benchmark and posting score, as well as benchmarking the intro of Skyrim (from the time Alduin attacks to the time you escape with Hadvar/Ralof)
EDIT:
Crashed when starting RE6 benchmark. Will lower by ~25 MHz and re-try later.
http://pastebin.com/xfxSuTLE - Second log for a more stable OC.
New OC:
- Core: 1120 MHz
- VRAM: 1225 MHz
- Volt: 1.20v
RE6 Score: 4580. Rank A.
What res and settings are you testing RE6 at ?
I may just give it a run as i have the benchmark too...
See if it is consistent.
Skyrim didn't want to run properly today. I was dropping a lot of frames from yesterday. Didn't bother with tuning the OC, just dropped it back to stock. Just letting you all know
Things don't want to run properly with the OC I had. Any suggestions?
