Anyone know what causes my HDD to sound like a fish tank impeller?

I figure that the drives are going bad due to their age, but if there is something I can do to quiet them down, I am all ears.

Back up your data, and save up for a new drive.

No real point in backing it up, it is spread across 5 drives. If one goes, oh well.
By your reply I assume that it is indeed failing and is not caused by some other problem?
Any noises like that would indicate a mechanical problem which means it's only a matter of time before it fails completely. You should replace it as soon as you can. If it's still under warranty you should be able to get a replacement.

Do you have any suggestions for that?
Easiest way would be to listen to each one, or disconnect one at a time until you find it. You could also check for any SMART errors.
