Noctua NH-D14 vs Phanteks PH-TC14PE vs NZXT Kraken x60 (Edited!)

As the title states,I'm currently looking into those to replace this H80i I bought yesterday. Any suggestions,I wanted to do a custom loop but I have no means of getting the kit (XSPC Raystorm 240) (Can't buy stuff online.)

Thanks!

Is the H100i any good,is it much of an improvement over the H100i? They currently have it for about the same price as the H80i on newegg (Price match at Fry's).

Obviously depends on pricing, but I think the Kraken x60 is the best cooler of the bunch.

According to Rodney Reynolds' testing, the x60 keeps temps 6c cooler at load (Core i7 920 @ 4GHz 1.3v) than the NH-D14. Even the x40 cools better, but a marginal 1c.

For the money id say got for the Phanteks, a few C cooler than the NH-D14 and costs a lot less than the X60

How much *C is it off from the Kraken?

Well, if you want to mount a CLC, I would use a Swiftech H220. It is going to murder the Kraken X60, especially when you have 2x Noctua NF F12 120mm fans in push-pull. However, that would be about $200 by the time you are done. I have a Phanteks PH-TC14PE and it performs fantastically! With my i7 3770k, @ 4.6gHz 1.334V, I am idling at 29 degrees C and under IntelBurnTest, I cap out at 69 degrees C. I think that is rather impressive. If you want less bulk, then a Kraken X60 or Swiftech H220 will work great, but for the money, the Phanteks beats the NH-D14 and the CLCs. The performance of the NH-D14 is a little less than the PH-TC14PE, but the price of the Phanteks isn't much or any more. I recommend either the Phanteks, the Kraken x60, or the H220. Idealy, you would get the H220 with 4x Noctua NF F12 fans, but at a reasonable price, the best option is the Phanteks. I love mine, and if you get one, you will too :D

Cheers,

Brennan Riddell

Like I've stated before,I would have gone with the XSPC Raystorm 240 kit but I can't order online.

I think the Swiftech might be better, but I'd hardly call a 1c difference "murder."

The H220 does have the advantage of expandability, and a pump that's 3 times more powerful, which makes a very interesting option.

For the most part, I agree with you. The best values are probably going to be with the air coolers, and best performance with either the Kraken or H220.

PS - Pricematch at Fry's is a bunch of bull. Last time I went in to get a price match, they would only match the *SHIPPED* price, and NOT the retailer's price, despite them not shipping. I also got redirected 4 times, literally to every corner of the store. I can't even remember what I got, but it was only like $10.

I'm aware that they do price match with shipped pricing, some of the stuff are free shipping,it'd make it cheaper, even if it's just slightly, do you know of any websites besides Frozen CPU (that might have a store somewhere) that sells the Raystorm kits?

Thanks for your input!

Well what country are you in, and whats stopping you from buying a prepaid visa and using that ?

I actually never thought of that.... I'm in the US. State is Texas.
